Plane-Tree-Cube Nagold

The Plane-Tree-Cube Nagold is the biggest baubotanical building so far and the first onebeeingdesigned especially for an urban context. The contribution for the regional horticultural show 2012 in Nagold will be part of a number of town houses afterwards.

Possibilities resulting of the plant addition can be examined in an urban context within this project. For the first time, the tree species "Plane" (platanus acerifolia) is used in a bigger project like this.

During the horticultural show, the building will be an event: Visitors are allowed to enter the platforms and facilities integrated for maintenance reasons. Thereby they get in contact with the structure, where technical facilities fuse with growing plants. The atmosphere is shaped on the one hand by pipes, regulators, sensors and valves and on the other hand by the fresh green of the young leaves and shoots which sprout everywhere all over the green walls.

The Plane-Tree-Cube Nagold was awarded "Special Prize for Innovation" at the "Holzbaupreis Baden-Württemberg 2012". The honoring will take place the 22nd of June 2012, starting 3.30 p.m. at the House of Architects, Stuttgart.

The opening of the Plane-Tree-Cube will take place simultaneously with the honoring "Übermorgenmacher" of Ferdinand Ludwig submitted by the Minister of Environment Franz Untersteller on Wednesday, the 20th of June 2012, starting 4.30 p.m. at the Horticultural Show Nagold, Riedbrunnenpark.
